Texas Lutheran University
Texas Lutheran University (TLU) has announced the search for a Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), an appointment to become effective on or before July 1, 2020. The VPAA will be responsible to TLU’s new president, Dr. Debbie Cottrell, and become an integral part of the university’s leadership team. With a focus on future growth and financial stability, TLU’s chief academic officer will be academically entrepreneurial, experienced as a teacher/scholar/administrator, accomplished as a strategic planner and implementer, collaborative by nature, and informed about the needs of the 21st century learner.
Texas Lutheran is an independent, liberal arts-centered, comprehensive university located just 35 miles from San Antonio and 50 miles from Austin in the midst of a robust and rapidly growing economic corridor. As a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), TLU has a diverse student body in which a high percentage are first-generation college students. Offering 27 majors, 37 minors, 12 pre-professional programs (nine of which are health related), and four graduate degree programs, TLU enrolls over 1,400 students.
The VPAA will partner with TLU’s president at a moment of distinct opportunity. An ability to build on the university’s existing strengths, to engage in a newly developing strategic plan, to move TLU’s academic programs beyond their current strengths, and to reflect a style that combines collaboration and decisiveness, will all be essential to the new VPAA’s success.
Prior to making application, prospective candidates are encouraged to learn more about the application process by reviewing the VPAA Search Profile at http://www.tlu.edu/vpaa-search . Candidates are requested to submit materials by noon CST on Saturday, November 30. All inquiries will be received in full confidence by:
