Job Summary

SCS Engineers is seeking a mid- to senior level engineer, geologist or environmental professional in our Mobile, Alabama office to perform environmental consulting activities. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner and self-motivated, is eager to learn, embraces teamwork, and has the desire to grow and develop professionally. This position will be involved in managing projects, developing proposals, and will also be directly involved with public and private clients in marketing, client management, and related issues in the Alabama market and will contribute to projects and proposals, in other states as well.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • A mixture of office and field work is expected, with an emphasis on office work.
  • Coordinating and performing Phase I and II environmental site assessments.
  • Multi-media sampling (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air).
  • Compliance monitoring, permitting, document preparation and proposals.
  • Analyzing and interpreting environmental data and preparing reports.
  • Preparing work plans, sampling and analysis plans, feasibility studies, and remedial action plans.
  • Reviewing and understanding drawings, specifications, and special provisions for construction projects.
  • Project Management of small to mid-scale projects.
  • Long field days and work at job sites throughout Alabama and northwest Florida can be expected with this position.
  • Overnight (up to a week or more) travel required, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or related field required (Masters degree preferred).
  • Professional registration preferred (E.I.T./G.I.T.,P.E./P.G or equivalent).
  • 8+ years of related environmental experience required.
  • Excellent technical writing, written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and learn new skills.
  • Microsoft Office experience including word, excel, and powerpoint
  • Field equipment experience preferred.
  • HAZWOPER training completed and up to date preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with driving record in good standing required
