Provides academic evaluations support and customer service for applicants and students enrolled through FIU Global First Year program. Responds to email and other written correspondence using the CRM and supplementary business tools related to FAQs and other inquiries about the FIU Global program. Works closely with offices to provide accurate information to students regarding immigration, student visa and other state and federal processes. Serves as DSO for Global First Year related cohort and processes immigration documents for incoming students to study at the university. Provides mentorship and training to new staff, student employees and graduate assistants as it relates to FIU Global.

  • Performs intake operations for Global First Year program; this includes evaluation of high school foreign academic credentials and review of post-secondary foreign credential evaluation documents, and data entry. 
  • Performs evaluation of high school foreign academic credentials and post-secondary foreign credential evaluation documents. As well as data entry of test scores and other academic supporting documents for admission. 
  • Coordinates with Global First Year and University Admissions to establish process, timelines and adheres to national and federal practices for university admissions, NCAA, and university board of governor’s state policy. 
  • Serves as DSO and issues necessary immigration forms, guides students through the process of studying in the US and maintains records on the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). 
  • Assists in the review and evaluation of policies and procedures making suggestions and recommendations to the senior leadership team. 
  • Takes on additional assignments such as: working reception in the front lobby, tele-counseling, hosting virtual events, and participation in on-campus visitation programs. 
  • Assists in the review and evaluation of policies and procedures making suggestions and recommendations to the senior leadership team. 
  • Assists in the transition of Global First Year students to FIU progression students. 
  • Performs other related duties as assign or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of related experience.

Departmental Requirements:

  • All candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or have Permanent Resident status at the time of application in order to serve as a Designated School Official for F-1 visa purposes

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience evaluating foreign academic credentials at a post-secondary institution or in support of a post-secondary institution. 
  • Experience in undergraduate or graduate admissions, processing or evaluation at a post-secondary institution. 
  • Experience using SalesForce or similar CRM. 
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with foreign countries education systems, international credentials evaluation procedures and the ability to perform transcripts evaluation. 
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with F-1/J-1 student immigration regulations.
