Are you a communications strategist who wants to work on a campaign to make the world a better place? Would it feel satisfying to spend your time addressing some of the world’s biggest challenges, such as improving U.S. agricultural practices that damage soil and water, advancing clean energy and transportation, advocating for just and equitable climate solutions, or decreasing risks of a nuclear war?

If so, you are invited to join the media team at the Union of Concerned Scientists for a position embedded in our campaign work. The communications officer will work in a fast-paced environment to raise awareness about our issues among reporters, influencers and decision makers. Join our skilled and motivated media team to make a difference!

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience
Position requires a minimum of five to seven years’ experience in media relations or journalism. Excellent writing and communication skill required. Experience writing press releases, op-eds, and other press materials. Proven ability to identify and exploit media opportunities and develop messages and sound bites.
Little or no exertion required. May spend extended periods at computer.
Some travel required.

At UCS, comparable training and/or experience can be substituted for degrees when appropriate.
