Responsibilities

In this position a person must be able to assist the Deans Office and Program Directors with a large variety of duties, especially web- and technology-based. Technology related duties include extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (including Access), Canvas, the Web, and statistical software (e.g., Remark, SPSS). The overall objective of this position is to provide the Deans Office with the necessary information to effectively lead the School of Business and carry out its day-to-day operations in Macon. One must be able to assume full responsibility, frequently working independently, to see assigned duties and projects through to completion in an efficient and effective way with little or no direct supervision. One must have the knowledge and communication skills to work well with the faculty, staff and students to assure our students the best educational experience possible. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must. This position will also handle accounting, payroll, budgeting, and personnel assistance. Duties include staff assignments, arranging meetings and functions and supervising and hiring student workers and other staff. This position generally works independently with little or no supervision, and responsibilities handled are intended to ensure efficient operation of the School of Business in Macon and all its related degree programs and constituencies.

This employee will also support the Associate Dean of Faculty and faculty of the Macon campus, by assisting with AACSB reports, faculty evaluation, supplies and office management, recruiting and supervising student workers, handling special events such as faculty meetings and graduation reception, and serving as a liaison to the Macon campus faculty.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and one year of administrative support experience are required. In lieu of a degree, an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired will be considered.

The successful candidate must:

  • Have skills to be able to use Word, E-mail, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, web applications, statistical packages/analysis and other basic computer programs and telephone etiquette, to interact with Stetson School of Business and Economics (SSBE) constituencies, maintain/enter data, and create reports.
  • Have the ability to work independently and be able to expedite workload of office without supervision, exercise judgment in prioritizing tasks and be able to respond professionally and efficiently to new situations that have not been previously encountered while managing heavy workload.
  • Have knowledge of how SSBE functions in order to work with maximum efficiency and effectiveness and quickly assimilate knowledge to implement and give understandable interpretations of SSBE policies.
  • Be a self-starter with progressive administrative experience with the ability to adapt quickly and maintain attention to detail while working under pressure and dealing with interruptions.
  • Have experience with HR processes which will facilitate recruiting of student workers, adjunct faculty, performance evaluation of staff and faculty at Macon enabling this person to provide greater support to the Associate Dean.
  • Have strong organizational skills to help run the office efficiently and effectively.
  • Have initiative to prioritize, begin and complete projects within a given time frame and without direct supervision.
  • Have knowledge of universitys policies to work well with other departments/schools.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal forms. Must have a demonstrated capability of handling sensitive and confidential data/information.
