Function/Duties of Position

The mission of the Information Technology Group (ITG) is to develop, implement and maintain technology-based services and solutions supporting the OHSU Healthcare mission.

The Healthcare Technical Services group provides technical solutions for the Healthcare Application Management Division through enterprise data integration, system technical support, network integration, software implementation, and web application development.

This position is a member of the Healthcare Technology Services Team and is responsible for enterprise data integration, legacy data conversion, engineering and implementing system-to-system interfaces for the EPIC electronic medical record. The position requires a broad knowledge of healthcare information systems and departmental workflow for OHSU healthcare applications.

Under the supervision of the Healthcare Technical Services Manager and the Interface Technical Lead the Epic Interface Engineer develops and implements complex enterprise data integration and legacy data conversion solutions.

Responsibilities include legacy data conversions, writing system specifications, engineering system to system interfaces, developing and supporting web services solutions, legacy data conversions, writing validation plans, system implementation, system security, system documentation and project management.

This position is a critical partner with the EPIC implementation/support team and will be supporting the workflow analysis, configuration and implementation of the clinical and administrative applications.

This position is responsible for managing multiple simultaneous projects and coordinating resources between the Vendor, ITG and the Customer for activities associated with all projects related to the healthcare information systems associated with Epic.

This position may be responsible for assigning tasks to project team members and monitoring their progress throughout the project life cycle.

This position must participate in 24x7 on-call rotation.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and eight years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR
  • Associate's degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and nine years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR
  • Ten years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience where one year of experience will be substituted for an Associate's degree and two years of experience will be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
  • Two or more years of paid work experience as an Application Engineer.
  • Successful candidates must have experience and working knowledge in operating system software, relational and/or hierarchical databases, and technical application support for administrative and clinical systems.
