Play a key role in Cascade Public Media’s digital technology team by building and maintaining websites, digital applications and digital content projects with a focus on intuitive, delightful user experiences. Qualified applicants please apply here. KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES I. Front-end development and theming Use a combination of programming skills (PHP, HTML, CSS, JS, etc.) to build Drupal 8 themes and subthemes which transform visual designs into working applications. Apply an aesthetic eye to all front-end decisions, working with design team counterparts to ensure our sites follow a consistent style. Develop digital style guides to codify UX/UI best practices. Build and maintain front-ends for non-Drupal applications as required (flat HTML sites, Wordpress sites, OTT apps, etc.). II. Performance Ensure websites are responsive/adaptive and work across a variety of devices and screen sizes (mobile, desktop, etc.). Create user interfaces which are fast, fluid and “jank-free” (maintain 60 fps). Recommend technical approaches (JS libraries, Drupal modules, etc.) for a variety of CMS-driven and “flat” website projects. III. Explore and extend Keep abreast of fast-moving, front-end technology trends and ensure CPM is using the latest and greatest best practices. Be an advocate for web accessibility; ensure CPM websites and apps are accessible to as wide an audience as possible (friendly to screen-readers, color-blind tested, etc.). Help to develop new product ideas, especially ones that use innovation front-end approaches to present our content to new audiences or in unique ways. IV. Collaborate Work closely with the technology and design teams, as well as business unit stakeholders and the newsroom team to create content-driven features and tools. Liaise with internal teams (content, marcom, IT, admin, and member/viewer services teams) to support content, promotion and customer support objectives.
