Job Description

he University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Senior Research Administrator for Pre-Award functions in the Office of Sponsored Projects. The Senior Research Administrator will assist faculty and staff in seeking and proposing sponsored research, service projects, and other creative activities to federal, state, industry or private sponsors. Other duties include, but are not limited to; serving as the University liaison between the sponsor and university personnel in the proposal process; reviewing proposals against institutional guidelines, sponsor requirements, and applicable regulations; identify deficiencies and provide guidance to faculty and college administrators on resolving the issues; coordinate with sub-recipients and other institutions; submitting proposals to sponsors via electronic systems; providing ongoing support to the project for the life of the award, which includes communicating project changes to the sponsor, processing award modifications, submitting progress reports and no cost extensions, and collaborating with the Grants and Contracts Office and Post-Award staff; sustaining effective relationships with faculty, staff, colleagues, government and community members; and other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and four years, or Master's Degree and two years, of experience related to administration or research compliance with supervision.

Candidates with excellent time management, organization, and interpersonal skills; the ability to remain calm, courteous, and professional in difficult situations; the ability to manage high volume in a high stress environment are encouraged to apply.

Candidates with the ability to understand and interpret formalized policies, guidelines, rules, regulations, legal contracts language and applicable laws, knowledge of the principles of grants administration, including proposal and budget development, cost principles, and the Uniform Guidance are encouraged to apply.
