Anatomy Lab Technician - 19001320
Description


This is a part time position anticipated to work 20 hours per week.

The office of the Department of Biomedical Sciences provides administrative support for faculty and staff who teach, conduct research and provide diagnostic services to the small and large animal hospitals as well as outside organizations. Some of the courses have teaching laboratories as key components. Students are provided hands on opportunities to learn through these laboratories. Research areas include reproductive biology, neuroscience, biotechnology and hepatic diseases. Diagnostic services are provided by the Section of Pathology. This section provides biopsy & necropsy services and operates clinical pathology and histology laboratories.

The anatomy lab technician will keep the lab clean, organized and in good repair. They will set up and break down the lab after classes and exams. They will embalm large and small animals needed for the course and complete the paperwork. They will assist in making models and specimens used in class. They will distribute and collect teaching tools to the students. They will coordinate cadavers for the donation program. They will use the solvent recycler. They will occasionally assist in the pathology lab.


Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent experience. Familiar with medical terminology. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation.



Preferred Qualifications:

Well organized, willing to follow protocols and capable of prioritizing tasks. Able to trouble-shoot problems, identify solutions and take the initiative to ensure deadlines are met. Familiarity with anatomy and anatomy terminology helpful. Experience embalming cadavers.



Special Work Schedule Requirements:

Occasionally come in early and/or leave late on exam days.
