Founded in 1955, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Einstein) is one of the nation's premier institutions for medical education, basic research and clinical investigation. A full-time faculty of some 2,000 conducts research, teaches, and delivers health care in every major biomedical specialty. The college has some 730 medical students, 193 Ph.D. students, 106 MD/Ph.D. students and 275 postdoctoral fellows.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The Development Associate is an important member of the Institutional Giving team and will be responsible for providing professional, high-level support for the execution of Montefiore & Einstein's ambitious Strategic Plan for Development. Working closely with the Director and Institutional Giving Associates, the Development Associate will provide critical project management for all aspects of strategic fundraising and stewardship work which includes portfolio management, database management, report preparation, prospect research, data analysis, and identifying new funding opportunities. The Development Associate will also assist with the design, writing, and preparation of proposals and applications to institutional donors, including corporations, foundations, government agencies, and multilateral organizations.

The Development Associate is proactive, anticipates future needs of the Institutional Giving team, and demonstrates responsiveness, strong customer service, independent thinking, and solid judgement in a demanding and fast-paced environment. She/he will serve an important role requiring the utmost professionalism, communicating and interacting with Office of Development leadership, and important external stakeholders as appropriate.



Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Institutional Giving Associates to develop and implement effective strategies, systems, and processes for the design and development of competitive proposals to institutional donors.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Raiser's Edge to maintain data, track opportunities, compile and/or produce reports, and provide information as requested by the Director, Institutional Giving.
  • Prepare for scheduled meetings, presentations, and events by compiling critical information, developing proposed agendas, preparing briefings, and conducting the necessary follow up.
  • Partner with the Institutional Giving Associates to track incoming correspondence and requests for the Director's attention, triage with the Director, prioritize items that need immediate attention, and prepare and edit memos, proposals, and other deliverables for the donor portfolio.
  • Represent the Office of Development in a highly professional manner, exercise sound judgement, respond to incoming requests in a timely manner, and maintain sensitive and confidential information.
  • Perform additional duties and execute special projects as assigned by the Director, Institutional Giving.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree and one to three years of professional or internship work experience.
  • Experience in non-profit fundraising or management consulting is preferred.
  • Excellent customer orientation (phone manner, professional disposition, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different constituencies.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is required.
  • Fluency in the full Microsoft Office suite is required.
  • Experience working with Raiser's Edge preferred.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
