Job Description

*Provide individualized career-decision making, planning, and job search counseling for undergraduate and graduate students and alumni; assist students in developing job search skills and graduate school application materials; and advise undergraduate and graduate students and alumni regarding career and professional development.

*Use a variety of modalities, including individual appointments, drop-ins, group advising, class presentations, events, and written communications to support students' career exploration, career readiness, experiential learning, and job search/graduate school pursuits. 

*Use culturally-responsive strategies to assist undergraduate and graduate students and alumni in clarifying personal and career goals; identifying strategies and alternative means for reaching goals; developing internship/job search skills including written communication, introductory advertisement, and interviewing and negotiation skills. 

*Use the career-decision model to facilitate student and alumni life-long knowledge, skills, and resources to facilitate personal career development plans and job search strategies 

*Acquire in-depth knowledge of specific academic programs to serve as key liaison to students in the programs. Build relationships with program constituents that lead to increased collaboration in career services program delivery

*Support the design and implementation of a school wide internship program:
~Take proactive steps to ensure students have equitable access to internship experiences
~Develop and leverage relationships with faculty and staff through individual meetings, training sessions, and communications to increase awareness of the value of internships for student learning and career readiness. Initiate and sustain departmental partnerships which lead to tailored, discipline-oriented internship opportunities for students.
~Provide support and guidance to students at all phases of internship including searching and securing internships, preparing for on-site success, trouble shooting, and organized reflection that advances learning.
~Follow updates to federal and state internship regulations and policy changes. Communicate changes in policy to students and colleagues.
~Maintain data on student intern sites and experiences.

Work directly with the Director and Career Center colleagues to:

*Coordinate and facilitate recruiting events and fairs for School of Education candidates.

*Create promotional and informational materials for the Center regarding School of Education majors/careers.

*Introduce and explain Handshake to students and alumni; utilize Handshake as a Center management tool; provide assistance to WECAN (Wisconsin Education Career Access Network) users, employers and applicants, in using the online application for recruitment and hiring.

*Provide administrative leadership for one or more designated program areas:
~Event management/presentation coordinator, program promotion/social media, data management, Handshake, Career Ambassadors, Webmaster, Credential Files, Technical & service documentation

*Serve on one or more Career Services Council standing committees and/or School of Education Committees:
~Employer Relations, Professional Development, Handshake Career Center Approval Team (CCAT), Data and Assessment; Internship, Elementary Education, SOAR presenter

*Complete other duties as assigned.

Minimum $38,276 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:
* Two or more years of experienceof experience in career advising, student advising or a student support setting.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated experience working with historically underrepresented students from diverse racial, ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds, students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and serve as a student advocate.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Strong organizational, program planning and development, and counseling experience
* Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of internal and external constituents.
* Knowledge of career development theories, career-related technology and programs.
* Analytical and problem solving skills.
* Demonstrated knowledge of employment trends and resources
