Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) Automotive Electronics group extensively uses cutting edge deep learning techniques in image processing for accurate object detection, and lane detection as well as localization through scene segmentations.

In addition to these new perception techniques, other research activities are underway for behavior and path planning and vehicle control for autonomous driving as well as developing new types of sensors such as high performance radars with higher resolution for better scene understanding.

Our Automotive Electronics Group (AEG) has an opportunity for an Embedded System Architect and Technical Leader

AEG: "Sensing the environment and navigating without human input"

Position Summary: Architect and lead integration of ADAS and Autonomous Driving application and infrastructure software into embedded controllers with multi-core processors

In this key and high impact role you will hold the following responsibilities.

  • Create, develop, invent / patent, validate and integrate embedded system architecture for autonomous driving
  • You manage a local Embedded System Architecture team
  • You will collaborate and act as a liaison with partners in US and Germany. These groups include Samsung Strategy and Innovation Center (SSIC) and Samsung Artificial Intelligence Laboratory(SAIL)
  • You we stay keep on the cutting edge of technical trends and developments affecting the areas of responsibility
  • You will hire and manage a local perception team

What we look for:
  • Expertise in embedded system architecture
  • Expertise in automotive software development process
  • Expertise in overall automotive development process (including V-cycles, validation / verification)
  • Expertise in RTOS (QNX, embedded Linux, Automotive Linux, etc.)
  • Expertise in software optimization (in prototype and embedded target environment)
  • Expertise with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet / AVB)
  • Expertise with automotive communication development tools (CANape, CANalyzer, etc.)
  • Expertise in automotive software framework (AutoSAR, Genivi, etc.)
  • Expertise in embedded software standards (MISRA, A-SPICE, CMMI)
  • 6+ years of experience in Software Systems Engineering (design, implement, validate)
  • 5+ years of experience in multi-threaded software application using C, C++, and/or Java
  • 5+ years of experience in software development of embedded hardware systems
  • Experience in multi-core software architecture design
  • Experience with embedded controller design, implementation and testing
  • Experience with ALM, Application Lifetime Management tools (Doors, Polarian, Integrity, Git, JIRA or Jama)
  • Experience in rapid prototyping environment and HIL environment (dSpace / MABX / ControlDesk, LabVIEW / National Instruments)
  • Experiences with ARM, Cortex, ATMEL controllers
  • Experiences with ARM / Neon, GPU, GP-GPU
  • Work independently to identify and analyze problems and find solutions without close supervision
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, analytical and root cause identification skills
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively, including planning, organizing and prioritizing with attention details
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Korean
  • 5 or more years of ADAS and Autonomous Driving technology development in professional / industrial environment
  • Experience with cyber security, over-the-air (OTA) update technologies
  • Experience with delivering products to customers

Technical Skills: , C++, Perl, Java, Python, OpenGL, OpenCL, Matlab / Simulink / Stateflow, Windows PC, MS Office

Travel requirements: 4 trips per year to SAIT in Korea, plus trips to San Jose, California and Munich Germany.

Education: PhD in computer science, electrical / electronics, mechanical, aerospace, robotics engineering, physics, mathematics or related fields
