The Senior Reimbursement Analyst provides support and advises management on all aspects of reimbursement, including more complex regulations and payment methodologies. Under limited supervision, responsible for performing a variety of financial reporting and related analyses for assigned areas of responsibility and includes preparing, analyzing, and reporting the annual Medicare and Medicaid cost reports. The Senior Reimbursement Analyst provides support, guidance and supervision to analysts; reviews and analyzes cost reports prepared by reimbursement analysts; serves as a primary contact with auditors and fiscal intermediary and advises hospital operations/patient billing with interpretation of Government regulations, compliance/ regulatory concerns, program development teams, and impacts of reimbursement on their departments. Duties vary depending on departmental needs.


EDUCATION: Bachelors' Degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance or related field or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE: Five years previous experience as an accountant, financial analyst and/or auditor. Experience with fiscal intermediary and/or hospital reimbursement or finance preferred.

  • Extensive knowledge of reimbursement principles, Medicare and Medicaid law preferred.
  • Understanding of hospital billing systems and government payment systems.
  • Knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Office, HFS Cost Reporting Software, SMS Patient Accounting System, and Lawson preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
