Job Summary/Basic Function:

Public Safety Officers are responsible for basic safety and security duties, including responding to emergency situations, patrolling campus buildings and grounds, responding to inquiries and requests for non-emergency services, investigating accidents and injuries, enforcing external laws and internal policies and regulations, and assisting with programs to educate students, faculty and staff about personal safety.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of related experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness and ability to work flexible and/or additional hours.
• Sound judgment and excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
• Upon hire, must be able to obtain and retain authority as a “Special State Police Officer.”

Preferred Qualifications:

• College degree in public safety or related field.
• Previous experience in campus public safety.
