Since its inception in 1966, MassHousing has supported affordable home ownership and rental housing opportunities throughout Massachusetts. The Agency has provided more than $22 billion for affordable housing in that time. Currently, MassHousing is seeking an experienced professional for the position of Data Analyst/Developer to continue the Agency’s storied history of affordable housing funding.
The Data Analyst/Developer in the Rental Systems and Technology department is a highly skilled report writer with a strong background in dimensional reporting concepts and business intelligence tools. The Data Analyst/Developer acts as a liaison between internal customers and technical development teams. S/He facilitates effective communication between stakeholders to ensure that projects are of the highest quality and that customer needs are met. S/He is adept at managing up and across the organization and is comfortable and skilled at interacting with peers and superiors alike. More specifically, the Data Analyst/Developer is responsible for the following:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, business analytics, business administration, or related field. Master’s degree preferred and may compensate for 3 – 5 years of work experience. 5 - 10 years relevant work experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Must have a deep understanding of relational databases, data warehousing, and data governance and expertise with data analysis tools, such as Excel, Cognos Report Studio, Tableau, Pentaho, SPSS, etc. (Please Note: This is largely a low-code/no-code analyst position with some opportunity for light development in Excel.) Must possess a substantial combination of the following skills: Cognos BI reporting or similar software, SQL, data mining/statistics, ability to create high-quality documentation using Microsoft Office tools, Sharepoint and/or web design, developer level experience with Excel, and Data Visualization. Should excel in the following ways: written and verbal communication, leading group meetings and conducting training sessions, time and task management, interpersonal skills and outgoing personality, attention to detail, critical thinking and problem solving, and customer service. Previous experience with agile project management (kanban or scrum) preferred. Familiarity with affordable housing, mortgage lending, and/or real estate a plus. Must be ambitious, curious, charismatic, well organized, and comfortable with a long “to do” list.
