Description

As a Superintendent working on our Rodanthe Bridge project in the Outer Banks, NC, you will schedule, coordinate and supervise activities of workers (laborers, operators, carpenters, finishers, etc.) engaged the project; typically supervising two to four foremen.

Responsibilities
  • Promote and enforce craft and subcontractors compliance with project safety program requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented
  • Mentor and coach foremen as it relates to company policies and procedures and work requirements
  • Conduct and/or direct project safety meetings
  • Supervise foremen assigned to area of responsibility and provide liaison between field engineering, and crafts to ensure compliance of construction with drawings and specifications
  • Plan, direct and supervise workers engaged in bridge construction. Activities include planning, organizing, directing and controlling methods of construction, manpower levels, material quantities equipment, work schedule and reviewing documentations
  • Coordinate assigned work with work of different crafts, company departments, or other contractors
  • Inspects work areas to determine type of work required and materials and equipment to be used May coordinate with equipment superintendent to insure constant flow of materials
  • Ensures that workers are supplied with tools, materials and equipment for completion of project
  • Assist in jobsite setup
  • Resolve construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.) as required
  • Maintain liaison with other departments (i.e., Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule
  • Ensures workers for each task are fully qualified to perform assigned duties
  • Coordinating sub-contractors onsite
  • Maintains knowledge of Flatiron's company values and strategic plan
  • Support published corporate policies
  • Perform additional assignments per management's direction

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution or equivalent related industry experience and/or training
  • 5+ years of heavy highway or civil construction related experience and/or training
  • Management experience of medium sized teams required
  • Advanced knowledge of tool & equipment safety
