BetterLesson empowers K-12 teachers to build a modern classroom: learner-centered, culturally responsive, and personalized.  Instead of the conventional format of professional development for educators, BetterLesson supports teachers in a way that’s personalized and continuous -- utilizing a mix of virtual 1:1 coaching, virtual PLC coaching, remote workshops, and in-person workshops, all supported by the BetterLesson Lab.  We match each teacher with a world-class coach and then leverage our technology to suggest customized teaching strategies, to qualitatively and quantitatively measure impact on student learning, and to continuously improve teaching practice through rapid iteration.  This process leads to off-the-charts teacher love (our data shows teachers love BetterLesson more than Apple users love their iPhones), high administrator engagement, and, most importantly, dramatic teacher and student growth.

We design and tightly control every aspect of the system in-house: our coaching methodology, the content behind our pedagogical viewpoint, the delivery of our services to all teachers and district leaders, and the software powering our web and mobile apps.  BetterLesson has raised over $30M of venture capital and grant funding, serves over 100 school districts, sees 850K+ monthly active users accessing our online lessons and strategies, and is expanding quickly.

Role

We are seeking an experienced manager and strategic, action-oriented leader to lead our Partner Success Team (PST). The PST supports education leaders to achieve their pedagogical and performance goals. The PST stewards strong and enduring relationships with our current partners (including schools, school districts, state departments of ed, education associations, and foundations). Members of the PST ensure participants in each partnership receive exceptional personalized professional development that align with their instructional priorities and goals.

The PST also works closely and collaboratively with the sales, product, marketing and coaching teams to ensure that partnerships are running smoothly, partners are delighted and BetterLesson Coaching is on track to deliver maximum impact. As the Head of Partner Success, you will be responsible for the satisfaction, renewal and expansion of our partners. Additionally, you will continue to build this high-performing team to tackle our ambitious mission and goals, ensuring that the members of PST are supported and growing. You will manage members of the PST directly, as well as growing and supporting team members to manage other team members. You will continue to support and further develop an already-strong team culture in a responsive, inclusive, empowering way.

You will help define the partner journey, determine and codify what success is to our partners, and you will implement a system to track metrics and outcomes.

You will focus on 3 main functional areas:

  • Ensuring partner satisfaction and continuing partner relationships year over year through renewal and expansion;
  • Supporting the systems, processes, growth and development of members of the Partner Success Team; and
  • Collaborating across functional (Coaching, Marketing, Partnerships, and Product) teams in order to ensure close internal alignment toward our goals.

You will

  • increase customer retention rates, reduce churn, and expand current partnerships;
  • drive the organizing, planning, and successful execution of BetterLesson’s service delivery in order to meet and exceed partner expectations;
  • inspire, support and hold your team accountable for ambitious goals;
  • consistently analyze various data sets in order to surface trends and insights that will lead to increasing both impact and growth with our partners;
  • collaborate cross-functionally to establish and continuously evolve best practices for partner engagement and satisfaction;
  • support your team to craft clear and effective messaging, communications, and presentations for partners; and
  • lead solution development efforts that best address partner needs, while coordinating the involvement of all necessary BetterLesson team members.

  • Cambridge, MA preferred. Open to partially remote for the right candidate!

Qualifications

You have

  • 8-10 years experience of in strategy, program management, and or client service roles, ideally at a mission-driven organization;
  • 3-5 years of leading k-12 account management/customer success teams toward ambitious growth and revenue goals;
  • managed a portfolio of partners and driven growth within those relationships;
  • successfully engaged with k-12 administrators across a range of settings and provided thought partnership to education leaders;
  • led a high functioning, highly-skilled team in an empowering and inclusive way;
  • leveraged the collective strengths of that team and thoughtfully collaborated with a diverse set of stakeholders to deliver delight and success to partners;
  • leadership experience at a high-growth technology company, preferably edtech;
  • an exceptional ability to create systems that drive adoption amongst users and consequently increase value to decision-makers with budget;
  • been successful at simultaneously managing multiple highly complex projects across multiple teams;
  • shown excellent organization, detail-orientation and project management skills;
  • an ability to communicate complex trends and outcomes simply and effectively to sophisticated education leaders;
  • strong verbal and written communication skills; and
  • demonstrated the flexibility required as a leader in results-oriented, fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment.
