Position Summary

S/he is responsible for creating global strategic direction and tactical tools that will be executed across all markets. S/he will be working closely with in-country and regional marketing leads to track pull-through and address related challenges. The Director is also charged with developing metrics to support measurement of our efforts. Positions available across Neurology, Hematology & Nephrology specialties based on interests, prior experiences and therapeutic area needs.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage development and execution of the tactical plan
  • Manage developing the short and long term strategic plans
  • Support development of brand differentiation strategy to support Alexion leadership despite competitive entrants
  • Develop innovative strategic initiatives for disease education
  • Cultivate strong relationships with cross functional teams, including country marketing teams, market research and others to support growth by leveraging market insights
  • Collaborate with countries to identify best practices and uncover needs/ trends and build relationships to improve consistency of brand strategy execution
  • Participate in new product launch activities
  • Track and monitor key performance indicators
  • Travel: anticipate 30%


Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Must have 10 years pharmaceutical industry experience and a working knowledge of marketing principles, including key principles of brand management, professional promotion, patients education and the sales process
  • Experience developing marketing strategies and tactics, with a focus on solid implementation of tactics through a combination of individual and team efforts
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects across functional areas, and work independently when appropriate, in teams and as a sub-team lead
  • Experience in managing external agencies on a day-to-day basis and budget management required
  • Experience providing input and acting as global marketing representative to provide strategic input to cross-functional leadership teams (e.g. Development Leadership Team, Access and Reimbursement Committees, etc.)
  • Experience supporting product and indication launches preferred, including development and roll out of comprehensive launch plans by market that:
  • Help establish disease and product positioning
  • Define physician targets and strategic drivers
  • Create unbranded and branded educational campaigns and content
  • Provide commercial direction on training content and tool development
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken language

Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA preferred
  • Experience with both global and country marketing
  • Experience in marketing and selling specialty and/or orphan drugs
