As the Division Safety Manager for Southern California, you will be responsible for working with all project teams to implement the company safety and health program; responsibilities will include conducting and developing training, participating in meetings, and implementing specific policies as needed.

  • Manage district safety and accident prevention through the inspection of sites, audits and training
  • Assist with staffing safety personnel on the project with concurrence of Project Management
  • Implement corporate Health and Safety regulations and standards to prevent workplace injuries
  • Provide administrative, technical direction, and updates on the safety program
  • Maintain and monitor a safety budget
  • Provide assistance to project and division management to ensure compliance with all safety policies
  • Assist in investigating incidents on site and developing required reports
  • Project direction to project based safety teams
  • Oversee safety incentive programs
  • Oversee company drug and alcohol program
  • Conduct and participate in safety audits
  • Coordinate safety training activities on the project
  • Inventory and order safety supplies and materials as needed
  • Hire and develop personnel as needed
  • Coordinate district related safety training activities
  • Oversee the managing of claims, assisting the Division Manager in decision making and settlement if necessary
  • Attend pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, and other required meetings
  • Liaise with project stakeholders
  • Travel to projects within the Division, and to the Corporate office, as required.
  • Liaise with governing agencies
  • Maintains knowledge of Flatiron's company values and strategic plan
  • Support published corporate policies
  • Perform additional assignments per management's direction

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field from an accredited institution is a requirement
  • 5 years or more in a project safety management role, on construction projects with substantial self-perform components
  • At least 5 years' experience in the heavy civil construction industry will be highly regarded
  • Experience working in a Cal/OSHA environment is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience leading a safety team across multiple projects is essential
  • Construction safety, current federal, state and provincial safety requirements experience required
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
