Senior Project Director – America Succeeds

Location: Denver, Colorado

Roles & Responsibilities

The Director of Network Strategy & Support is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and tactics to support America Succeeds’ state affiliate organizations and regional partnerships. The successful candidate will maximize the outcomes and impact of America Succeeds’ services and value to our network; work closely with the Vice President to manage multiple initiatives, projects, and programs; and take an entrepreneurial approach to executing solutions that support our network and other stakeholders.

  • Structure and lead the delivery of America Succeeds’ products and services to affiliate network and strategic partners
  • Identify, develop, and implement policy and advocacy tools, products, and services to support America Succeeds’ affiliates and strategic partners
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Assist with the development and delivery of America Succeeds’ proprietary intellectual property, institutional knowledge, and organizational and operational content
  • Anticipate, identify, and address key opportunities and challenges to ensure affiliate success
  • Document best practice and challenges among affiliate and partnership sites to ensure America Succeeds remains a continuous learning organization

This position requires some travel – up to 3 overnight trips per month

Qualifications

We are seeking a rising entrepreneurial leader with a history of effectiveness working with senior business leaders, policy makers and other community partners. The successful candidate will translate problems into practical solutions and be driven by a vision of an education system that prepares every student to succeed in a competitive global economy. To achieve this, candidates will have a minimum of 7 years of work experience and knowledge of education policy/advocacy, as well as some combination of the following:

  • Solutions-oriented problem solver – Requires strong critical thinking ability; comfort working through problems with limited support; and ability to engage multiple constituencies and build coalitions moving seamlessly among business, policy, and non-profit management sectors
  • Policy and advocacy experience – Must be a diplomatic team-player with a demonstrated understanding of the policy-making process and experience navigating complex political issues, building relationships, and working collaboratively
  • Proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation – Demonstrated ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment; high-level business acumen; ability to balance the delivery of programs against the realities of a budget; problem-solving and project management skills; and creative resourcefulness
  • Strategic vision and agility – Ability to think strategically, respond to challenges and make adjustments, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into an organizational plan
  • Leadership and organization experience – Experience in developing and growing teams, utilizing empowerment and accountability to deliver results, and fostering a sense of urgency and a bias for action
  • Enthusiasm for challenges – Enjoys working hard and looks for challenges; able to act and react as necessary, even when limited information is available; not afraid to take charge of a situation; can overcome resistance and take unpopular stands when necessary
