We are a seeking a Research Director, Financial Insights – Compliance, Fraud and Risk Analytics to join our dynamic research team.


  • Responsible for the development of research for IDC Financial Insights global coverage of Big Data and analytics in regulatory compliance, fraud detection and prevention, and cyberthreat detection and prevention and risk management
  • Focus on compliance regulators around "bad actors" including AML, eCDD, and KYC. Also, other regulatory programs such as GDPR and compliance watchlists (e.g. OFAC and PEP)
  • Focused on developing new business for compliance, fraud and risk analytics in addition to setting and fulfilling the research agenda
  • The Research Director is responsible for building the reputation and the revenues of the services within their domain and is heavily involved in consulting and custom research. Additional responsibilities include managing the research agenda, writing research reports, presenting at industry events, helping with marketing activities to raise industry visibility, conducting business development, providing sales support, and acting effectively as a client advisor for both financial firms and technology suppliers
  • The candidate must demonstrate thought leadership in this space and be able to communicate the importance of new ideas/trends that impact the financial services industry to senior management
  • Serves as product leader, demonstrating financial success through revenue growth, program profitability and expense management
  • Establishes and carries out a business development and client renewal strategy for risk program
  • Leads consulting projects and custom work associated with program area
  • Develops and delivers presentations for clients and industry conferences


  • A Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution or the international equivalent is required (Advanced degree a plus)
  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience
  • Successful candidate will have 10+ years of related industry risk/compliance experience (e.g. financial industry analyst, financial services consulting, auditing/compliance at an institution, vendor risk/compliance product management or financial regulator (e.g. OCC, FINRA or the Fed)
  • Experience with compliance and regulatory programs such as AML, eCDD, and KYC. Fraud detection and prevention, cyberthreat detection and prevention and advanced compliance analytics
  • Demonstrated public speaking skills
  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent writing and superior communication skills required
  • Writes documents that are actionable and relevant for the target audience
  • Ability to clearly communicate and report data analysis
  • Demonstrated ability in working under pressure and competing deadlines
  • Ability to forecast and publish timely changes to market conditions
  • Exhibits industry presence and Thought Leadership on compliance, fraud and risk analytics
  • Ability to travel (30-40%)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for client inquiry and internal collaboration
  • Position is based in Framingham, MA, but other locations will be considered
