The Office of Admissions recruits, selects and enrolls the University's undergraduate student body in the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering and coordinates outreach and application processing for the graduate programs in both schools. Each year, the undergraduate admissions staff designs and manages a comprehensive recruitment plan that attracts nearly 70,000 student inquiries and as many as 50,000 campus visitors; processes, reads, evaluates and renders decisions on more than 21,000 applications for freshmen and transfer admission; and enrolls an academically-accomplished and diverse class of 1,425 freshmen and 50-100 transfer students. For graduate admissions, the office designs and manages outreach initiatives on behalf of the graduate faculty in 30 departments with over 60 masters', doctoral and certificate programs as well as coordinates all aspects of application processing for these programs.
As part of the SMFA at Tufts team, the Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions works with a professional Admissions staff to fulfill the graduate enrollment objectives set by the Dean for the School. This person will read and evaluate applications for admission, participates in the selection process and serves on selection committee, conducts individual and small-group informative meetings and tours for prospective students to the SMFA at Tufts and represents the University at graduate school fairs and/or portfolio day events during travel to assigned geographic recruitment territory. This individual assists the Director of Graduate Admissions, Associate Director of Admission and SMFA at Tufts Graduate Programs staff with the coordination of specific recruitment initiatives such as marketing or event planning. The Assistant Director will report to the Associate Director of Admissions for the SMFA at Tufts and have a dotted reporting line to the Director of Graduate Admissions, School of Arts and Sciences. QualificationsBasic Requirements:
- Master's Degree in visual arts and 2-3 years related experience OR a Master's degree in another field and 3-5 years directly-related experience in the visual arts.
Special Work Schedule Requirements:
- MFA degree.
- 3-5 years experience in higher education administration.
Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm. Position requires travel. An employee in this position must complete all appropriate background checks at the time of hire, promotion, or transfer.
