Under the general direction of the Director of Revenue Cycle, the Coding Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and directing Physician Practice coding and revenue cycle activities including clinical data quality.
Ensure coding policies and procedures are accurate, and in accordance with applicable official coding guidelines or other regulatory guidance.
Ensure coding staffing and process positively support the revenue cycle to minimize days in accounts receivable without compromising quality.
Monitor relationship of coding practices to outside evaluations.
Participates in Health Professionals efforts to ensure billing and coding is efficient and effective in processing information to ensure successful billing of patient accounts.
Work collaboratively with Compliance Auditor, other Coding Coordinators and Health Professional staff to accomplish revenue cycle goals.
Works closely with Central Billing management and practice revenue cycle teams to ensure effective and efficient practices and process.
Assists in coding charts by assigning accurate codes for health system billing and statistical purposes as required by workload.
Advanced knowledge and expertise in coding practices and revenue cycle management as evidenced by industry credentials such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS-P or CPC. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
5-7 Years progressively more responsible experience and demonstrated knowledge of coding and revenue cycle management.
Supervisory experience and self-directed work habits.
Working knowledge and experience in physician practice management.
Analytical, process and problem-solving skills and ability to use computers to support these functions.
Advanced knowledge of coding guidelines for ICD-10-CM coding. E/M coding and CPT.
Ability to interpret and apply Medicare and other reimbursement bulletins/regulations.
