Job Description

Starr King School for the Ministry, a recognized leader in Unitarian Universalist and progressive theological education and part of the Graduate Theological Union, is seeking candidates for the newly created position of Director of Academic Enrollment/Student Services.

Description: The Director of Academic Enrollment/Student Services will provide leadership and direction for the operations and activities of school-wide functions and programs of Admissions, Registrar, and Financial Aid.

Scope: Under the direction of the President, the Director of Academic Enrollment/Student Services provides leadership and direction for Admissions, the Registrar, and Financial Aid; oversees the administration of quality customer-oriented services consistent with Starr King policies as well as regulatory, regional, and national standards; and directs, supervises and evaluates staff relative to areas of assignment.

Example of Duties: Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop and maintain a strategic plan for enrollment services with a genuine commitment to student success, growing enrollment and supporting inclusion.
  • Investigate and develop ways to meet enrollment goals and improve services to prospective and enrolled students.
  • Plan and administer department budgets consistent with achieving the school‘s goals and objectives.
  • Oversee admissions and registrar functions, ensuring aggressive recruitment of both traditional and non-traditional students and high quality applicant processing and services.
  • Ensure the development and provision of a quality financial aid program that supports enrollment goals and student needs.
  • Initiate and participate in overall program planning for departments.
  • Communicate statutes and Starr King policies and philosophies.
  • Work in close collaboration with Student Information System vendor to examine, evaluate, and make recommendations for technological innovations and technology-based services.
  • Coordinate admissions and financial aid areas to assure complete and quality services to newly admitted students.
  • Serve as the liaison between the enrollment services and academic program personnel, including consultation with the Dean of Faculty.
  • Collaborate with Dean of Faculty to develop plans to achieve targeted enrollment growth.
  • Produce and distribute progress reports on enrollment goals.
  • Foster and support the ongoing development of staff by providing orientation, training, performance coaching, continuing education, and professional development opportunities.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, public administration, business administration or related field and approximately three years of increasingly responsible management experience including, but not limited to, areas of enrollment management/services, student records, registration, or financial aid.

Knowledge of and/or commitment to:

  • Starr King‘s counter-oppressive, multireligious model of theological education
  • An integrated strategic academic enrollment management model
  • Technology used in educational programs and services
  • Establishing successful partnerships with all constituencies

Ability to:

  • Demonstrate effective leadership in management and planning
  • Plan, organize and evaluate the work of others
  • Train and oversee the work of others and create a supportive environment for staff and students
  • Compile data and prepare accurate reports

  • Must embody the school's counter-oppressive, multi-religious, student-focused values, and must be or become conversant with and passionate about Unitarian Universalist values and principles
